• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
Registrations / Certifications:
• UPDA/MMUP Certified Mechanical Engineer Grade A (Mandatory)
• QCDD Approved
• Additional certifications such as NFPA, ASHRAE, LEED/ESTIDAMA
Experience:
• A minimum of 10 to 15 years in mechanical system design for high-rise commercial, residential, and hospitality buildings.
• A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
• A robust technical background in HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting system design in compliance with
international and local authority standards, including QCDD and Kahramaa.
Computer Software Proficiency:
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with design software such as HAP and Elite.
• Knowledgeable in Building Information Modelling (BIM) coordination tools.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop mechanical designs encompassing HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems, adhering to project specifications and relevant codes.
Conduct load calculations utilising design software (HAP or equivalent) to ascertain equipment capacities and the dimensions of ducts and piping.
Identify design and constructability challenges and submit Requests for Information (RFIs).
Prepare design drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams for all mechanical systems, ensuring integration with architectural and structural layouts.
Review design documents and specifications to verify compliance with project and authority standards, including ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, and CIBSE.
Select and specify HVAC and plumbing equipment, such as chillers, FAHUs, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, valves, and control devices.
Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), technical specifications, and design reports.
Coordinate with consultants, clients, and other engineering disciplines (electrical, civil, architectural) to resolve technical issues and ensure the seamless integration of services.
Prepare shop drawings to affirm compliance with the approved design intent and authority requirements.
Engage with local authorities (QCDD and Kahramaa) for design approvals and compliance verification.
Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings.
Participate in BIM coordination meetings to ensure the proper routing of mechanical services and the absence of clashes.
Support the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) team in evaluating inspection and testing protocols from a design compliance perspective.
Ensure that all designs are well-documented, regularly updated, and controlled in accordance with ISO quality procedures.
Prepare as-built documentation and final design reports for project handover.
Assist in the preparation of commissioning plans and assist in validating system performance against design criteria.
Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements, energy efficiency standards, and emerging design technologies.
