About the Role
Role & Responsibilities:
• Starting from the specifications, and for every product, identify the recommended supplier/manufacturer.
• Based on quantities provided by the QS dept., obtain quotations for every item from several sources.
• Select the best offer available and obtain technical data sheets and catalogues for the said product.
• Pass technical data sheets & catalogues to QA/QC dept. For submission to the consultant for approval.
• Follow up any clarifications with the supplier/manufacturer as requested by the consultant.
• After approval of the product by the consultant, negotiate the final offer with the supplier/manufacturer.
• Based on final quantities provided by the QS department. Place an order with the supplier/ manufacturer and liaise with the finance department. For L/C or other payment methods.
• Liaise with planning dept. For dates as to when the material is required on site.
• Liaise with the supplier/ manufacturer for shipping & delivery, and follow up until the material is delivered to the site on schedule
• Capable of identifying equivalent products to what is specified and submitting for approval if it is more economical.
Candidate Profile:
• Engineering Degree in any discipline
• Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in the UAE in procurement, preferably in the construction industry.
• A technical or engineering background is an advantage.
• Ability to resource material from the international market.
• Knowledge in handling LC and shipping procedures.
• Capable of monitoring junior buyers and directing local procurement operations.
• High proficiency in written and spoken English.
• High proficiency in computerised monitoring and reporting software. Primavera or MS Project software.
